Spinal Cord Injuries Australia (SCIA) is a member-based national for purpose organisation that promotes independence and provides services to people with a spinal cord injury and other neurological disabilities to assist them to achieve their goals. Working together with our clients, our mission is to eliminate barriers that prevent social inclusion for people with a spinal cord injury and other physical disabilities, ensuring that the society in which we live is accessible in every way.

SCIA's NeuroMoves provides a suite of exercise services for people with a spinal cord injury or other physical disability. NeuroMoves offers the opportunity for people to improve their functional capacity, acquire new skills, prevent secondary health complications and increase their independence and overall health, fitness and well-being in a welcoming, motivating and supportive environment. 

NeuroMoves Lismore is based at Southern Cross University Health Clinic in the beautiful Northern Rivers of NSW. We have state of the art equipment, being one of the only regional centres to have access to specialized equipment to facilitate recovery and therapy for Neurological and Spinal Cord Injury populations.

NeuroMoves is currently operating in Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Brisbane, Lismore, Adelaide and Perth and our therapist team of 45 is comprised of exercise physiologists and physiotherapists.

SCIA is looking for a full time Team Leader. If you are a motivated self-starter looking for that step up into management within a fun and supportive team environment this is the role for you!

You will oversee all clinical programming and goal setting for NeuroMoves customers and be responsible for the operational delivery of the services.

Responsibilities include:

  • You will oversee operational duties and have responsibility for on-site staff and student management.
  • Coordinating the scheduling of staff and customers.
  • Delivering quality one-on-one exercise therapy sessions to customers and achieving billable hours.
  • Responding to customer enquiries and applications.
  • Providing assistance to therapists as required.
  • Maintaining customer clinical notes, undertake and document customer assessments and support research activities as required.
  • Responsible for increasing client numbers for the site.

SCIA has a great culture and so we are looking for someone who will fit well into our team by having a positive attitude, strong relationship building skills and a passion for improving the circumstances of marginalised and disadvantaged people.

To succeed in this role you are an experienced clinician that can deliver a range of exercise programs and therapies and have:

  • Tertiary qualification in Physiotherapy or Exercise Physiology.
  • A registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) or Exercise and Sports Science Australia (ESSA).
  • Experience in managing a small team and working as part of a team, ideally in a rehabilitation or community based setting.
  • A talent to encourage and support customers with an empathic, positive approach.
  • Strong written, administration, organisation and time management skills.
  • Ability to be involved in work of a highly physical nature.
  • Passion about working with neurological populations.
