Step As One Disability Services is seeking enthusiastic, committed, and compassionate Disability Support Workers in and around the Mornington Peninsula region of Victoria. If you have experience supporting individuals with complex disabilities and behavioural needs—including autism spectrum disorder, non verbal communication, forensic support needs and behaviours of concern, we'd love to hear from you.

We are currently recruiting for Support Workers with experience to support participants who require in home and community support, including in supported independent living. Support Workers will need to be confident in using positive behaviour support strategies and the implementation of a behaviour support plan to inform and guide their engagement with participants

Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years experience supporting participants with complex disabilities and behavioural needs.

Role Responsibilities (including but not limited to)

  • Provide personalised support to NDIS participants, including capacity building, in-home assistance, and community access.
  • Assist participants to safely and confidently engage in their communities.
  • Work in line with Step As One policies, including medication administration, work health and safety, privacy, and participant rights.
  • Monitor participant safety and wellbeing, reporting concerns promptly to the Practice Lead.
  • Complete documentation such as progress notes, incident reports, and goal tracking using the Step As One Client Management System.
  • Collaborate with participants, families, stakeholders, and other professionals to support NDIS and SMART goal achievement.
  • Complete participant-specific and mandatory NDIS training to maintain competency requirements.
  • Contribute to a positive team culture through open communication, regular meetings, planning, and professional development/supervision.
  • Provide support to other staff where needed.
  • Take reasonable care for your own health and safety.
  • Report any quality or safety incidents or hazards immediately to the Practice Lead.
  • Carry out all duties in accordance with relevant policies and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications;

  • Mental Health, Disability, Community Services, relevant tertiary qualification and experience in the field.
  • NDIS Worker Orientation Module (or willingness to complete).
  • Current Driver's Licence and comprehensive car insurance.
  • Medication administration competency.
