South Australian Native Title Services Ltd (SANTS) is currently seeking a Cultural Flows Coordinator to assist the project Peramangk Cultural Flows – Protecting Water, Culture and Country in the MDB Project. SANTS has received funding from the Commonwealth Government’s Cultural Flows for Cultural Economies Program.

About the Role

The Peramangk Cultural Flows Coordinator will assist to engage stakeholders including the Peramangk Aboriginal Corporation (PAC) and its wider Peramangk community, State and Commonwealth Government Agencies, technical advisors such as water planners, ecologists and hydrologists, and private landholders.

They will contribute to achieving the project objectives and outputs, including the creation of a Cultural Flows Plan that identifies cultural water values and priorities and translates into a framework that will be used to advocate for cultural interests in mainstream planning and policy making.

They will also assist to build capacity within the Peramangk Aboriginal Corporation (PAC) and its wider Peramangk community, to participate in water governance and investigate feasibility for generation of economic benefits through water ownership and participation in water markets.

The Peramangk Cultural Flows Coordinator will be employed by SANTS and will be guided by an Advisory Body established under the Project by Peramangk Aboriginal Corporation (PAC).

Key Responsibilities

The Peramangk Cultural Flows Coordinator will:

  • Deliver on activities as identified by a Project Plan and Budget with SANTS.
  • Provide reports to the Peramangk Advisory Committee and Peramangk Aboriginal Corporation (PAC) Board of Directors.
  • Maintain positive working relationship with Peramangk Advisory Committee and PAC Board through respectful and effective communication.
  • Develop and maintain stakeholder relationships.
  • Undertake planning and logistical work for on-Country field visits, research collation and stakeholder engagement.
  • Maintain a Cultural Heritage Database to store cultural data consistent with appropriate cultural protocol.

Qualifications and attributes

  • Qualification or equivalent practical experience in land and water management or community-based project delivery.
  • Have Peramangk cultural authority and/or a demonstrated understanding of Peramangk culture, Country and cultural protocol.
  • Experience working with First Nations organisations and Prescribed Body Corporates.
  • Demonstrated experience in planning and coordinating projects.
  • Experience in land management work or practical skills relevant to land management activities (desirable).
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse stakeholders and foster partnerships.
  • Working knowledge of and commitment to the principles and practices of Equal Employment Opportunity and Workplace Health and Safety.
  • Current South Australian Driver's Licence.
  • Working with Children clearance.
