Join Our Team as a Social and Emotional Wellbeing Worker!

Saltbush is seeking a compassionate and experienced Social and Emotional Wellbeing Worker to join our Indigenous Skills and Employment Program (ISEP) team in Darwin.

Working alongside a multidisciplinary team, you'll provide culturally safe, trauma-informed support that empowers participants to overcome barriers, strengthen their wellbeing and create pathways towards employment, education and long-term independence.

Position Details:

• Location: Darwin
• Employment Type: Full-time. Fixed-Term until 31 December 2026
• Reports To: Program Manager
• Excellent Remuneration: $90k to $95k + 12% super + salary packaging + 5 weeks annual leave
• Hours: Normal business hours, with flexibility for additional hours as needed
• Travel: Possible travel to regional locations where Saltbush operates
• Compliance: Current National Police Clearance, NT Working with Children (OCHRE) Card, NT driver’s license, First Aid certification, and suitable qualifications & professional registration

The Role: 

As the Social and Emotional Wellbeing Worker, you'll work directly with participants to provide strengths-based, culturally safe and trauma-informed support.

Working closely with Mentors, Employment Consultants and external service providers, you'll undertake needs assessments, develop personalised support plans, coordinate referrals and provide therapeutic support that assists participants to achieve positive wellbeing, education and employment outcomes.

You'll also play an important role in building the capability of the wider team by sharing knowledge, mentoring staff and strengthening trauma-informed practice across the program.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver culturally safe, trauma-informed wellbeing support to participants.
• Conduct strengths-based assessments and develop personalised support plans.
• Coordinate referrals and work collaboratively with internal and external support services.
• Provide therapeutic interventions, advocacy and crisis support where appropriate.
• Support participant engagement, resilience and long-term wellbeing outcomes.
• Maintain accurate case notes, reports and program documentation.
• Mentor and build the capability of the broader team in trauma-informed practice.

Essential Criteria:

• Tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Counselling or a related discipline, with current professional registration where applicable.
• Demonstrated experience providing trauma-informed support or counselling.
• Strong understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and culturally safe practice.
• Experience working with individuals experiencing complex barriers and support needs.
• Excellent communication, advocacy and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Employment Requirements Successful applicants will be required to hold or obtain:

• National Police Clearance (no more than three months old)
• NT Working with Children (OCHRE) Card
• Current Unrestricted/Open Driver Licence
• Current First Aid Certificate
• Relevant tertiary qualification and current professional registration
