RUSU Realfoods is an RMIT University Student Union run social enterprise. We are all about providing affordable healthy ethical and sustainable vegan and vegetarian food and drink options to students. Realfoods serves quality fairtrade coffee and sweet and savory snacks, as well as meals (curries, stir fry etc), soups, salads and wraps which are all made onsite by our Realfoods Cooks.
The cafes are staffed by professional staff, experienced student casual baristas/café assistants and a small team of student volunteers. Mentoring and supporting student volunteers and a genuine commitment to promoting healthy and sustainable food options is essential for Realfoods staff.
We operate cafes at the City and Bundoora campuses, Mondays to Thursdays with operating hours between 8.30am and 2pm.
Description: Part Time. Flexible band of hours (minimum 14 hours per week. Extra adhoc shifts may be offered for catering events This role is 3 days per week, Monday to Wednesday, with shifts usually around 5 hours/ day (shifts usually start at 8am/ 8.30am). Extra shifts may be available on Thursdays or for catering day time events.
Temporary Contract: 14 February 2022 to 1 June 2022 (Semester 1, 2022)
The Realfoods Cook is responsible for the preparation of high quality vegetarian and vegan food for the Realfoods Café. This includes; meals of the day (curries, stir-fry, dahl etc.), soups, salads and wraps. They are the only paid Cook on site and must be able to work independently. The ability to cook large volumes of curries, dahls and salads is essential. This role works alongside, mentor and supports student casuals and trained student volunteers.
