POSITION OVERVIEW

  • Work for a hyper-local charity, providing local families with safe, essential material goods and supporting the circular economy.
  • Based in Holt, Canberra (free parking).
  • Part-time role, 15-20 hours per week (Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday required).
  • Remuneration: Level 3 (MA00100) Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award. Monday to Friday $36.00 per hour, Saturday $54.00 per hour.

The Volunteer Coordinator role is filled through a job-share arrangement, comprising two part-time staff. This recruitment is for one of the positions in the job share arrangement. The role is responsible for ensuring that volunteers receive a consistent, professional and enjoyable experience throughout their journey with Roundabout Canberra while balancing the operational needs of the organisation.

This role will report to the Operations Manager, and work closely with other employees; supporting a diverse range of over 250 volunteers registered with Roundabout Canberra.

The location of the work is the Roundabout Canberra Headquarters at 80 Beaurepaire Cres, Holt.

We are looking for someone really special to fill this role - we're a unique, fast-paced workplace and no two days are the same. The ideal candidate will have outstanding interpersonal skills, and the ability to juggle competing priorities.

If you have prior experience working with volunteers, that would be very well received.

The role is part-time, working between 15 and 20 hours per week including Saturday afternoon. The location of work is the Roundabout Canberra premises in Holt, ACT. You will work Tuesday, Thursday (within school hours) and Saturday.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES  

  • Ongoing care and support of volunteers.
  • Effectively recruit, screen, train, manage and support volunteers to meet organisational objectives.
  • Administration concerning volunteers, including communicating with volunteers concerning information important to their volunteer experience.
  • Induction of new volunteers.
  • Managing weekly volunteer sessions, which include supervising, supporting and guiding volunteers to meet the operational needs of Roundabout Canberra.
  • Adhere to, and support volunteers to adhere to policies, procedures, systems and legislative requirements.
  • Liaise with the Operations Coordinator/s and Social Services Manager to understand priorities for Volunteer efforts.
  • Along with other employees on duty each shift, ensure donors and other visitors are greeted appropriately.
  • With other team members, maintain a safe and clean working environment, and perform WHS duties as required.
  • Utilising the Salesforce system for volunteer management and record keeping.

On occasion, the Volunteer Coordinator may be required to: 

  • Capturing social media content as required.  
  • This role may also contribute to events such as expos and markets, as well as fundraising efforts. 

ABOUT YOU: 

Essential:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a busy team environment, and to effectively supervise volunteers.
  • Compassion towards others.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to learn ICT systems, in particular Salesforce.

Desired:

  • Previous experience working with volunteers.
  • Prior experience using Salesforce.
