Rocketship is an international health non-profit organisation, based in Australia, whose mission is ‘To share skills and work in partnership to achieve strong, sustainable primary healthcare systems in Pacific Island countries’.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Program Manager is responsible for overseeing, coordinating and ensuring the success of Rocketship’s country-specific programs. The primary duties of the Program Manager are in the following key areas:

  • Play a leading role in program design
  • Manage/coordinate the preparation of funding proposals
  • Program performance management
  • Support the development and monitoring of project timelines, budgets, objectives, and deliverables
  • Communicate with partners/donors on program-related issues

This is a new position to develop and support new programs and initiatives across specific countries in the Pacific.

Selection Criteria

As a key representative of the organisation, the Program Manager must conduct themselves with the utmost professionalism, have strong communication skills and be intimately familiar with Rocketship’s mission and operations. Given the nature of the organisation’s work in health systems and developing countries, the Program Manager should be well-versed in the technical aspects of health and development.

The following attributes are considered essential for the Program Manager:

  • Previous experience, whether voluntary or by paid employment, with international/community development NFP
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in areas of International/Community Development, Public Health, Public Policy or similar
  • Experience in policy development and implementation
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills
  • Sound research skills
  • Experience developing and delivering community-based program

Conditions of employment

The Program Manager will initially be employed on a pro-bono, part-time basis to a 0.2 full-time equivalent (FTE) level.
