River Nile School is an independent specialist secondary school located in North Melbourne, supporting young women from refugee and refugee-like backgrounds who have experienced significant disruption to their education and lives prior to arriving in Australia. The school delivers a trauma-informed, culturally responsive model of education, underpinned by strong wellbeing support, small class sizes and a highly relational approach to learning.
With students representing more than 50 countries of origin, River Nile School provides a unique and inclusive environment where students are supported to re-engage in education and build positive futures. As the school continues to grow and expand across multiple campuses, this newly created role forms an important part of strengthening inclusive practice and disability support systems across the organisation.

The Disability and Inclusion Coordinator is a dedicated leadership role responsible for overseeing River Nile School’s approach to disability inclusion, NCCD compliance and inclusive educational practice across the school. Reporting to the Assistant Principal of Wellbeing, the role works closely with teachers, wellbeing staff, learning support workers and mental health practitioners to ensure students receive appropriate adjustments and support.
The successful candidate will lead NCCD processes, maintain audit-ready evidence and documentation, support staff in implementing inclusive classroom practices, and contribute to the school’s broader inclusion initiatives, including cultural responsiveness, reconciliation and maintaining a rainbow-friendly environment.
