We’re looking for an admin whiz who shares our passion for reuse.

At creative reuse centre, Reverse Garbage, every day is different and busy. We need an admin superstar to take care of the admin, so our team team can focus on growing the organisation in other areas.

Reverse Garbage is a not-for-profit creative reuse centre based in Marrickville. Started in 1975 by a group of teachers and community workers, we redirect commercial and industrial waste from landfill to a new life with educators, students, artists, upcyclers, DIY enthusiasts, tinkerers, set builders, window dressers, community organisations, festivals, charities, and more.

Our team is made of interesting, dynamic, creative and quirky people who all bring something different to the table. This job description gives you an overview of this position’s responsibilities and the skills required.

This role will support all areas of our organisation – from our CEO through to retail, education and operations. In no particular order, you will be required to:

Education

  • answer education booking and customer enquiries
  • maintain contact information for education bookings
  • assist with quoting and processing invoicing (Xero)
  • upload public events onto Class Bento, Facebook events, Council 'What’s on' pages
  • maintain contact/mailout lists

Retail

  • field phone calls from donors, shoppers, schools, parents throwing birthday parties
  • respond to emails about donations
  • assist with online orders

Operations

  • enter data to track resources saved from landfill
  • organise our weekly paper recycling collection and invoicing

General

  • complete office admin including filing, ordering, organising, tidying, phone lists, and maintaining office supplies
  • enter timesheet data

Skills required

  • Juggling (not literally). You will need to be able to keep on top of many projects at once
  • Warm and positive can-do attitude – ability to work in a team
  • Computer literacy and basic knowledge of accounting and invoicing software
  • Proficient with Google Suite (especially Mail, Drive and Calendar), Xero, Wordpress, Publisher
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Ability to introduce achievable admin systems and processes
  • Creative solutions are highly valued around here. We don’t deal with stock standard items, so we need to be adaptive and flexible
  • WH&S awareness
  • Attention to detail

Highly valued

  • Experience in a similar admin role. Extra points if in a not for profit
  • A passion for an inclusive and sustainable community
