About Respect Inc

Respect Inc is the Queensland sex worker organisation. We are a member organisation of Scarlet Alliance, the national peak sex worker organisation in Australia.

We provide peer education, information, events, workshops and support programs to Queensland sex workers regardless of gender, age, location, industry sector, legal status, cultural background or linguistic abilities, as well as providing a formal medium to communicate sex worker issues and concerns so as to improve the rights and respond to the workplace health and safety needs of our peers.

More specifically, we provide:

  • sex worker drop in, in 3 locations across Queensland
  • information, education, peer support, events, workshops, advocacy and referrals
  • outreach to regional and isolated sex workers
  • sales of inexpensive safer sex products (condoms, lubes etc.)
  • allied health services network development
  • sex worker community development
  • general community education
  • policy advice to government

Purpose of the position

The position of Social Media & Content Creator is responsible for Respect Inc's social media presence including creating engaging and accurate content, responding to engagement, understanding analytics, and implementing the organisation’s social media strategy and campaigns within a sex work rights framework, informed by the Respect Inc aims and objectives, policies and procedures.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The position of Social Media & Content Creator is responsible for the following duties, which includes but is not limited to:

  • Implement Respect Inc’s social media strategy,
  • Create and edit high quality content including images and videos,
  • Plan and schedule accurate and engaging content across multiple platforms,
  • Identify trends and opportunities,
  • Understand and tailor content in response to analytics,
  • Stay up to date on sex work discussions, debate and content on social media, including barriers to sex worker engagement,
  • Liaise with staff and community,
  • Run social media campaigns,
  • Report on engagement and analytics,
  • Undertake other duties as directed by the supervisor/CEO.

All work is to be undertaken using work practices that protect confidential content including organisational and employees’ information and does not undermine the reputation of the organisation.

Key Selection Criteria

(Please address each of these, with a maximum one page per Criteria).

Essential Criteria

  1. Previous or current sex work experience and knowledge of issues impacting sex workers including current trends within our community.
  2. Demonstrated social media presence and understanding of social media growth and engagement across platforms that sex workers use including Facebook, Instagram and TikTok.
  3. Demonstrated ability to create strategic, high quality content that reaches the target audience.
  4. Demonstrated experience in adjusting content to suit different audiences and platforms.
  5. Demonstrated ability to use and understand analytics, creating more engagement from our target audience and providing statistical data for reporting purposes.
  6. Demonstrated organisational skills including good problem-solving skills, attention to detail and the ability to deliver consistent accuracy.
  7. Excellent time management. Ability to plan ahead for significant days/events and schedule content across platforms in advance.
  8. Ability to take direction, work independently as required and take ownership of tasks.
  9. Experience working effectively in a team environment including liaising with colleagues and community to create content.

Terms and conditions of employment

This is a permanent part-time position. Staff are employed under the SCHCADS (Social Community Home Care and Disability Services) Industry Award 2010. This position will be paid at Level 4.1 or 5.1 depending on skills and experience ($44.58 or $51.00).
