About the Role

Under the direction of the Board of Management the CEO will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our operations, including financial management, strategic planning, and staff development. You will provide executive leadership towards the achievement of Red Lily Health’s Vision and Strategic Priorities while meeting statutory regulations and complying with accreditation requirements. You will also ensure ongoing commercial viability and account for the continuous growth of the organisation while maintaining an excellent reputation. Our corporate office is based in Darwin however, traveling to communities that we service will be a must from time to time including working from our Jabiru clinic with an overnight stay or longer when necessary.

About Us

Red Lily Health Board is an independent, Aboriginal community-controlled health service with overall direction and management set by a Board comprised of representatives from the remote Aboriginal communities of the West Arnhem and Kakadu regions. Currently we service the communities of Warruwi, Minjilang and Jabiru with the plan to transition the Gunbalanya in the near future. Our mission is to improve the health and well-being of those living in underserved areas by offering support to general practice, innovative allied health programs, community outreach initiatives and industry advocacy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the whole Organisation guided by the Strategic Direction of the Health Board and hold responsibility for achieving operational milestones.
  • Fulfil and delegate (as necessary) the financial and HR delegations of Red Lily Health Service.
  • Approve policies and other organisational documents as necessary.
  • Represent Red Lily Health Services in eligible and relevant forums.
  • Fulfil or delegate (as necessary) all compliance reporting requirements to funders and regulatory bodies.
  • Liaise with the Board on behalf of the Organisation.
  • Ensure effective community engagement in a manner consistent with the Community Control ethos.
  • Ensure effective stakeholder management and marketing & communications by Red Lily Health Service.
  • Manage Organisational Risk Management System.
  • Represent the interests of Red Lily Health Service at Northern Territory and national representative forums such as Aboriginal Medical Services NT (AMSANT) and the National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (NACCHO).

Key Selection Criteria

Essential:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Public Health or significant experience working in public health administration
  • Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander communities and knowledge of their socio-economic position and cultural values
  • Highly developed skills and experience in policy, strategic and business planning
  • Demonstrated experience in the delivery of primary and secondary health care services
  • Demonstrated high level strategic leadership and governance experience
  • Demonstrated ability to manage community, stakeholder and corporate relationships
  • Demonstrated high level problem solving, mediation and negotiation skills
  • Demonstrated high level oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the key social determinants of health for Indigenous Australians
  • Demonstrated high level advocacy experience and the ability to represent the RLHB at local, regional, state and national levels
  • A current driver’s license, Ochre Card (WWCC) and national Criminal History clearance or the ability to obtain
  • A preparedness to travel by 4WD and or light aircraft to Aboriginal communities we service with regular multiple stays in the communities

Desirable Skills:

  • Demonstrated success in managing an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation
  • Demonstrated success in managing an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service
  • Evidence of effective engagement with Indigenous leadership in achieving desired outcomes in communities
