Redfern Youth Connect (RYC) is a community-led organisation dedicated to supporting Aboriginal children, young people, families, and communities across Sydney. ABOUT THE ROLE

The Drop-In Youth Lead is responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering community-centre-based activities that promote social participation, cultural connection, and community engagement. You’ll lead a small team of Casual Youth Workers, ensure safe and welcoming environments, and support young people and families experiencing or at risk of vulnerability.

This role plays a vital part in strengthening community connections, reducing risks for young people, and ensuring culturally safe, trauma-informed support is available when it’s needed most.

ABOUT YOU

The ideal candidate is a culturally capable, community‑minded leader who is passionate about supporting Aboriginal young people and families. They bring experience in youth or community programs, can confidently supervise staff, and thrive in a busy, hands‑on Drop-In environment.

They understand early intervention, trauma‑informed practice, and the strengths and challenges within Aboriginal communities in the local Sydney areas. They communicate well, build strong relationships, and work collaboratively with partners, families, and young people.

They’re organised, reliable, and able to manage program logistics — from activities and safety to food coordination and reporting. They live the RYC values of TRUST: Teamwork, Respect, Unity, Safety, and Truth.

They’re also comfortable working Saturday evenings during school terms. Applicants also require a current, Valid Driver's License, WWCC and NSW Police Check.
