  • Location: Flexible (in WA), we welcome regional and rural applicants from WA as well as those based in Perth.
  • Sector: LGBTIQA+
  • Time commitment: Meeting every 6 weeks (in person for those able), AGM, community annual meeting, plus committee/sub-group work as required. (Travel and accommodation expenses covered).

Rainbow Futures WA is the state’s LGBTIQA+ peak body, emerging from a consortium of organisations and individuals committed to the long-term wellbeing of our communities. We bring together community voices, advocate for systemic change, and lead projects that improve wellbeing, safety, and rights for LGBTIQA+ people across Western Australia.

At our core, we believe in equity, inclusion, and respect for all. We are looking for team members who not only have the skills, but who also share our values and are motivated by social justice, compassion, and collaboration.

The Role

Having been established as the state’s LGBTIQA+ peak body in 2024, Rainbow Futures WA has had a significant period of growth and impact. This is an exciting opportunity to support the work of RFWA who are leading the charge of advocacy for the LGBTIQA+ community in WA.

We currently have 2 vacancies on the board, including for the role of secretary.

As a Director of RFWA, you will work alongside fellow board members to provide strategic leadership, governance and cultural guidance to the organisation.

This includes:

  • Supporting the strategic direction and growth of the organisation
  • Ensuring strong governance and accountability
  • Providing cultural insight and community perspectives
  • Supporting partnerships, advocacy and community engagement
  • Contributing to a safe, inclusive and respectful organisation

We are particularly interested in people with lived experience of or interest in:

  • Community leadership
  • Governance or not-for-profit leadership
  • Finance, law or business
  • Social justice, advocacy or community development
  • Fundraising, communications or partnerships

Previous board experience is welcome but not essential. We encourage emerging leaders to apply.

Secretary will have additional responsibilities such as: minute taking, setting meeting agendas, maintaining records.
