Your new role

  • Full time, part time ongoing 30 - 37.5 hrs per week
  • Located at Deakin, ACT
  • Annual Salary between $82,856.63 to $89,166.58

The Family Advisor is a frontline service and the first point of contact for our Clinical and Community Programs. The Family Advisor undertakes an initial intake and triages all referrals.

Under the direction of the Manager and Senior Clinicians, the Family Advisor is responsible for:

  • Managing the initial intake with new clients, identifying their needs, and connecting them with services (internal and external) through care coordination and referrals
  • Under the supervision of the Senior Clinician, assessing level of risk of clients with a strong focus on identifying any child protection concerns, family or domestic violence concerns and/or suicide risk
  • Organising client appointment times and following up clients where necessary
  • Monitoring and maintaining the wait list and timely recordings of client information, including statistics

What you’ll need to succeed

  • Relevant experience and Certificate IV in Community Services or Mental Health or a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and assess client needs, including the ability to assess risk, escalate risk and prioritise accordingly.
  • Demonstrated sound understanding of family and domestic violence issues and experience in person-centred, trauma-informed supports and responses and knowledge of services available to families and children.
  • Knowledge of legislative requirements of mandatory reporting, and issues relating to vulnerable and disadvantaged individuals.
