The Queensland Council of Unions has two vacant positions – Campaigns Officer and Development Officer. Both represent an exciting opportunity to make a positive and lasting contribution to the lives of working Queenslanders and their communities.
As well as the opportunities outlined in the job advertisements, the QCU is also looking to appoint a Women’s Officer.
The successful candidate for one of either the Campaigns Officer or Development Officer will assume this role.
The Women’s Officer will work with the QCU Women’s Committee and be responsible for ensuring the plans, projects and campaigns of the committee are implemented. They will also liaise with the Women’s Committee at the Australian Council of Trade Unions. The Women’s officer will need a comprehensive understanding of issues impacting women in the workforce and more broadly in the community, as well as a thorough understanding of how trade union campaigning and education programs can make a difference to the lives of women.
The role of Women’s Officer may be performed by the successful candidate for either of the advertised positions.

The Queensland Council of Unions is the peak union body in Queensland. It is comprised of 26 affiliate unions, and represents more than 350,000 Queensland workers.
Our Mission Statement is “Leading Unions to achieve industrial, political and social justice for Queensland Workers”.
The purpose of this position is to work with QCU affiliated unions to identify skills and knowledge gaps and to develop ways to increase skills and knowledge in relevant areas across the movement.
The person fulfilling this role will also be responsible for building successful events that celebrate and recognise the achievements of trade unionists and promote a positive image of trade unions in the community.
The ultimate goal of the position is to ensure unions have the tools, skills and knowledge needed to empower members, to increase union membership, to improve the lives of union members and to ensure that union participation in the community is positively recognised.
This part time (3 days per week) permanent position in based in Brisbane. Some travel will be required.

Performance Appraisals will be carried out on at least an annual basis by the Assistant General Secretary and reported on to the General Secretary.
