Membership and Events Officer

Queensland Council of Social Service

Are you an event guru and a membership master?

Do you get a buzz from creating events that bring people together, and building relationships that make a difference?

We’re looking for an energetic and organised Membership and Events Officer to help shape and deliver the moments that matter for our members and partners across Queensland.

In this role, you’ll plan and deliver high-quality QCOSS events, drive activities that grow and retain our membership, and help strengthen our partnerships — including through sponsorships and fundraising efforts.

If you thrive in a fast-paced, values-driven environment and enjoy working on both the strategic and hands-on sides of events and engagement, this could be your next great move.

Join a team committed to equity, social justice and creating change across Queensland.

About us:

QCOSS is Queensland’s peak body for the social service sector. Our vision is to achieve equality, opportunity, and wellbeing for every person, in every community.

We create positive social change through our work in effective advocacy, policy development, member engagement and community empowerment. We bring people together to solve big social issues and amplify the voices of those who need to be heard.

As a conduit for change in our sector, we’re always looking for new and meaningful ways to connect with our members, stakeholders and the broader community.

About you:

You’re a natural organiser who loves pulling all the moving parts together, whether that’s planning a standout event, managing a membership drive, or building relationships that lead to lasting partnerships.

You’re confident juggling logistics, deadlines and data, and you bring a level of care and professionalism to everything you do. You’re just as comfortable writing a campaign update as you are liaising with a venue or responding to a member query.

You get energy from working with others and pride yourself on being proactive, collaborative, and solutions-focused. You bring strong digital skills - ideally including Microsoft Dynamics 365 - and a sharp eye for detail, especially when it comes to CRM systems, reporting, and continuous improvement.

You’re aligned with QCOSS’s values of strength, optimism and respect.

Above all, you’re someone who believes in the power of people and partnerships to create lasting social change.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Plan, deliver and evaluate in-person and online events.
  • Lead development of membership engagement and growth strategies
  • Lead and deliver member communications across email, newsletters and digital platforms
  • Research and develop a pipeline of potential commercial relationships for QCOSS, including sponsorships and partnerships.
  • Onboard new members and manage membership inquiries.
  • Analyse member data and reporting on trends and opportunities

In addition, you’ll bring:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A commitment to equity, ethics and the values of the community services sector

The following mandatory requirement also applies:

  • Work Rights: You must have unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this appointment to apply. Visa sponsorship is not available for this appointment.

What you will get:

We’ll offer you a flexible, rewarding, full-time (38 hrs/week) permanent role in a values-driven organisation.

All this plus a competitive salary of $102,791 - $107,454 per annum depending on experience. Superannuation of 13% and generous salary packaging benefits apply. Flexible work arrangements include working from home, flex time and time off in lieu.

The position description and selection criteria can be found on the QCOSS website at www.qcoss.org.au or byemailing [email protected] using the subject line: Membership and Events Officer enquiry via EthicalJobs. For further information, contact Robert Hoge, Executive Director Communications and Engagement on [email protected] or (07) 3004 6900.
