Practice Lead

Professional Individualised Care

We are eager to meet more passionate and unique individuals who want to use their professional skills and experience to make a real and lasting impact in the lives of others.

We offer an opportunity to:

  • Lead & mentor a small team of people pioneering a new model of out-of-home care
  • Work within a relationship-based model that promotes ‘professional nearness’
  • Benefit from a flexible home-based work environment and conditions

About Us

Professional Individualised Care (PIC) is a newly formed for-purpose organisation providing out-of-home care for vulnerable young people in NSW. The Individual Social Pedagogy model of care used by PIC is based on a German model that has been delivering successful outcomes for young people for more than 30 years [more info].

What we do

The PIC model places one young person with one Professional Therapeutic Carer (PTC). Our carers have industry-recognised qualifications and extensive professional work experience, plus a desire to work in a home-based environment that provides a ‘whole of life' response to the complex needs and the care of a young person. Carers are employed and paid a full-time salary. Each care setting is supported by a Care Coordinator, internal Therapeutic Specialist and a Youth Work Specialist. By creating a highly supportive environment for both the PTC and the young person, real relationships and best practice therapeutic work can take place.

The Role

This role provides supervision and coaching to a team of Coordinators so that the recruitment, assessment, training and ongoing monitoring and support of Professional Therapeutic Carers achieves the best possible outcomes for children and young people at Professional Individualised Care. The role will also contribute as part of PIC’s leadership team, working across all areas of the organisation to achieve its vision, goals and actions.

About you

We want to meet amazing people who:

  • Share our vision for a better way of working in out-of-home care
  • Are good at and really enjoy supporting others to successfully navigate challenges and resolve crisis
  • Have a strong professional background in leading and mentoring teams
  • A working understanding of trauma and its impact on children and young people
  • A natural orientation to be adaptable to changing circumstances and organisational requirements, and contribute to the needs of a rapidly expanding organisation
  • And can play well with others (especially those in other agencies and gov departments)

Additional info

We are a 100% mobile and de-centralised organisation, so we need people who are highly comfortable using mobile communications technologies and can successfully work through periods of isolation.

Pay Pay and conditions are according to Grade 7 of the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award (SCHCDS). Please note, PIC is able to offer full FTB benefits with access to salary packaging.
