Since 2008 the Self Advocacy Resource Unit (SARU) has been supporting and resourcing independent Victorian Self Advocacy groups and organisations for people with Intellectual Disability, people with Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) and people with complex communication needs. Groups focus on local issues and speak up state-wide and national problems. Self advocacy includes peer support, skills building, leadership, activism, and working for change in systems and communities.
The Self Advocacy Group Projects Manager is responsible for managing a range of self advocacy group projects where AMIDA is the lead (Action for More Independence & Dignity in Accommodation). This includes the supervision and support of staff, ensuring that projects are well managed and achieving their goals, that reporting to funding bodies is timely and that on-going and sustainable funding is identified.
The Self Advocacy Group Projects Manager is 4 days per week (30.4 hours) until 30 June 2027.
SARU offers flexible work conditions and a supportive team environment. Although this is not a work from home position, up to 2 days per week can be done from home.
