About the Organisation 

The City of Port Phillip is an inner-city council with around 1000 employees who deliver more than 100 programs and services to our residents, businesses and visitors. These range from childcare and immunisations, to libraries, management of parks and open space, rubbish collection, road maintenance and more.  

About the Role    

This role leads the Independent Living team to ensure the effective planning and delivery of the Council’s services as part of the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) and Home and Community Care for Younger People (HACC FYP). It provides strategic advice to Council and manages operational transition or change requirements bought about by the Aged and Disability Reforms.

Duties    

  • Monitor and maintain high quality service provision and ensure compliance with legislative funding requirements and Council policies.
  • Provide leadership and ensure the overall support, co-ordination and supervision of staff within the Independent Living Team.
  • Develop and maintain management information systems including reporting systems.
  • Participate in community and service network forums to keep informed and engaged with the transition requirements through the Aged and Disability Reforms.
  • Participate in and contribute to Divisional leadership and planning activities as relevant. 

Skills and Experience 

  • Academic: Tertiary qualifications in the behavioural sciences or a health related discipline essential.
  • Demonstrated management experience and leadership skills
  • Extensive understanding of service provision to older adults, people with disabilities and their carers
  • Experience in planning for and leading change, particularly related to service reform.
  • Extensive knowledge of funding that is relevant to Independent Living programs and accountability requirements.
