Your New Role

Part-time, fixed term position located in Gympie, to assist for 6 hours per fortnight during school term times only from June 2026 until December 2026. Playgroup delivery will be from Kandanga State School on Fridays. 

  • Alongside a Facilitation, support delivery of a playgroup designed for children aged 0-8 with a disability or developmental concerns and their families.
  • Support the creation of a warm, inclusive, and relaxed environment where children and older adults can engage freely, safely, and respectfully through play.
  • Prepare and deliver developmentally appropriate experiences that promote connection, creativity, and wellbeing for all participants.
  • Communicate with parents and the Facilitator to understand and respond to the needs of children within the context of program delivery.
  • Role model safe and respectful play practices that encourage positive interactions that reflect the values of Play Matters Australia.

Essential Criteria

  • Hold or eligible for a valid Working with Children Check.
  • Experience and/or knowledge supporting children and their families.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills.
  • Consistently presents a warm, welcoming, friendly, approachable, and professional manner to participating families.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience and/or knowledge supporting children and their families that have a child with a disability or developmental delays.
  • Experience working with families from varying social and cultural backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated ability to assist in group facilitation using a play-based and strengths-based approaches.
