ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
We're looking for a creative, proactive communications professional to join our team. This role is highly varied, with responsibilities spanning media relations, digital communications, content creation, and campaign delivery.
As Communications Coordinator, you will:
- Work closely with the Head of Communications, Program Managers, and the broader Planet Ark team to help plan, develop, deliver, and evaluate communications that support Planet Ark's campaigns, stakeholder relationships, and organisational priorities.
- Create content across Planet Ark's owned channels, including newsletters, websites and social media, while helping maximise earned media opportunities through media planning, media releases, case study development, interview coordination, and media outreach.
- Lead the day-to-day management of Planet Ark's and National Tree Day's social media channels. This includes planning and creating engaging content, managing publishing schedules, community management, monitoring and reporting on performance, and identifying opportunities to optimise both organic and paid social campaigns.
- Contribute to the delivery of some of Australia's best-known environmental campaigns, including National Tree Day, National Recycling Week and other Planet Ark initiatives through campaign communications, stakeholder reporting, content creation, and communications execution.
- Assist in evaluating Planet Ark's communications activities by monitoring media coverage, analysing campaign performance and contributing to reporting for stakeholders and partners, with the role supporting relationships with Planet Ark's partners, sponsors and ambassadors.
This is a full-time, permanent position. The salary for this role is $70,000-$75,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus superannuation and benefits.

ESSENTIAL SELECTION CRITERIA
We’re looking for someone who has:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or demonstrated experience in communications, public relations, media or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience creating engaging content across digital channels, including websites, newsletters and social media.
- Experience managing organisational social media channels, including planning, publishing, community management and performance reporting.
- Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to produce compelling content for a range of audiences and communication channels.
- Experience creating and managing website content using content management systems.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Australian media landscape and experience supporting media relations activities.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain productive relationships with media, stakeholders and colleagues.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated analytical skills, including experience evaluating communications performance and using insights to improve outcomes.
- A strong alignment with Planet Ark's mission and values.
DESIRABLE CRITERIA
- Experience developing and managing paid social media campaigns, particularly Meta platforms.
- Experience creating visual and video content using tools such as Canva and the Adobe Creative Suite.
- Knowledge of social media analytics, digital marketing metrics and campaign optimisation.
- Knowledge of environmental issues, including the circular economy, climate change, recycling and the waste and resource recovery sector.
- Experience working within the not-for-profit sector.
Candidates must have full working rights in Australia (permanent residency or citizenship).
