Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
Indigenous Business Australia (IBA) partners with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to build intergenerational wealth, economic independence and long‑term prosperity. With a commercial focus and a commitment to respectful, productive partnerships, IBA invests in people, places and ideas—supporting home ownership, business growth, asset accumulation and investment opportunities. The organisation exists to help turn readiness into reality, backed by a workforce that is invested, informed, responsive, respectful and connected.
IBA’s Investment and Asset Management division delivers on the ‘Towards 2030’ strategy by raising, shaping and deploying patient capital into opportunities on Country. Through a partnership‑first approach, the Structured Finance program identifies opportunities with First Nations organisations and market partners, builds pipelines in priority sectors, and attracts aligned capital, while embedding cultural governance and Free, Prior and Informed Consent across the investment lifecycle.
As a Business Development Manager in IBA’s Structured Finance team, you’ll help identify and shape early‑stage opportunities that support Indigenous economic development. You’ll build strong relationships with Indigenous organisations, governments and capital partners, while ensuring opportunities are culturally informed and aligned with FPIC principles. You’ll manage the opportunity pipeline, assess new ideas, and prepare clear concept materials that support internal decision‑making.
You’ll work closely with colleagues across transactions, legal, ESG/impact and risk to progress opportunities toward investment readiness. The role also involves maintaining accurate CRM records, supporting partnership frameworks and sector engagement activities, and contributing to ongoing improvements in business development processes, tools and templates.
For a full list of responsibilities for the above role, please contact Pipeline Talent via [email protected] using the subject line: Business Development Manager - Indigenous Business Australia enquiry via EthicalJobs.
You’re a collaborative and analytical business development professional with experience in complex sectors such as infrastructure, energy, housing or investment origination. You understand co‑investment and capital partnership models, can engage confidently with transaction, legal, risk and investment specialists, and know how to assess early‑stage opportunities for commercial viability, risks and value creation. You bring strong communication skills, the ability to turn complex information into clear concept materials, and a disciplined, data‑driven approach to managing pipelines and reporting.
You also bring an awareness of Indigenous economic development contexts, including cultural governance, FPIC and the policy settings that support investing on Country. You build trusted relationships, exercise sound judgment, and work effectively across diverse stakeholders and environments.
