An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced health leader to manage the Southern Metropolitan Region Palliative Care Consortium (SMRPCC), a Department of Health-funded regional collaboration working to improve access to high-quality palliative and end-of-life care across Melbourne's southern metropolitan region.

Hosted by Peninsula Home Hospice, the Consortium brings together leading health services and stakeholders to implement the Victorian Palliative and End of Life Care 2026–2036 Framework through strategic partnerships, regional projects and service improvement initiatives.

About the Role

As Consortium Manager, you will provide strategic leadership to the Consortium, working closely with member organisations, the Department of Health and key regional stakeholders to deliver projects and initiatives that strengthen palliative care across the region.

This is a highly autonomous and influential role suited to an experienced health professional who thrives in collaborative environments and enjoys bringing people together to achieve shared outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

You will:

  • Lead the implementation of regional priorities aligned with the Victorian Palliative and End of Life Care 2026–2036 Framework.
  • Provide strategic leadership and support to the Consortium Executive and member organisations.
  • Manage regional projects from planning through to evaluation and reporting.
  • Build strong partnerships across health, community and government sectors.
  • Develop and deliver education and capacity-building initiatives.
  • Coordinate monitoring, evaluation and reporting of Consortium activities.
  • Lead knowledge management, stakeholder engagement and communications.
  • Provide secretariat support to Consortium committees and working groups.
  • Lead and support Consortium staff.

About You

You are an experienced leader with a strong understanding of the Victorian health system and a passion for improving healthcare through collaboration and innovation.

You will bring:

  • Extensive experience within the public health sector.
  • Sound knowledge of palliative care or end-of-life care services.
  • Postgraduate qualifications in a health-related discipline.
  • Demonstrated leadership and project management experience.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
  • Experience leading strategic planning and organisational change.
  • Excellent written, communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience in evaluation, data analysis and reporting.
  • Knowledge of financial management and budgeting principles.
  • Experience working with government departments and cross-sector partnerships.
  • High-level proficiency in Microsoft Office.
