Senior Associate - Leadership and Capability

Paul Ramsay Foundation

About the role

Reporting to the Chief Impact Officer, the Senior Associate, Leadership and Capability will work alongside the Senior Associate, Sector Capability and the broader Impact team to support PRF’s Leadership, Capability & Connections Program.

This program brings together leadership and capability initiatives that strengthen the people, organisations and networks needed for sector-wide transformation. It includes initiatives such as the PRF Fellowship Program and Social Impact Leadership Australia, as well as broader capability-building work across the for-purpose sector.

In this role, you will contribute to the evolution of the PRF Fellowship Program, help design new leadership and capability initiatives, and support high-quality program delivery, partner management, learning and impact.

Key responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Support the design, delivery and continuous improvement of PRF’s leadership and capability initiatives, including the evolution of the PRF Fellowship Program.
  • Work with colleagues across PRF to identify leadership and capability opportunities and translate these into practical program responses.
  • Contribute to program strategy, workplans, budgets, governance, risk management and reporting.
  • Develop program content, learning journeys, workshop materials, participant resources, briefings and communications.
  • Facilitate or co-facilitate workshops, learning sessions, convenings and reflective practice conversations.
  • Build and manage relationships with delivery partners, facilitators, consultants, Fellows, alumni, grantees, intermediaries and sector stakeholders.
  • Support relevant grants and partnerships, including scoping opportunities, preparing investment proposals, monitoring delivery and supporting re-grant or exit processes.
  • Work with the Learning and Impact Team to embed learning, evaluation and feedback loops into program design and delivery.
  • Source, synthesise and share insights from research, practice, Fellows, partners and communities to inform PRF’s leadership and capability work.
  • Prepare high-quality materials for internal decision-making, including Executive and Board papers, presentations, program updates and partner briefings.

Desired Skills and Experience

About you

You are highly collaborative, consultative and inclusive, with the ability to build trust with diverse stakeholders across sectors, disciplines and communities. You bring a strong program design mindset and can translate ideas, evidence and lived experience into practical learning experiences and capability-building activities.

You are comfortable facilitating or co-facilitating workshops, conversations and group learning in a respectful, purposeful and adaptive way. You are curious, reflective and systems-oriented, and you are able to work with ambiguity while keeping delivery on track.

You will bring:

  • Experience developing, coordinating or implementing leadership, capability, learning, organisational development or social impact programs.
  • Experience supporting program design and delivery, including workplans, stakeholder engagement, content development, implementation, monitoring and continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate or co-facilitate workshops, learning sessions, communities of practice or similar group processes.
  • Strong relationship management skills, including the ability to work with senior stakeholders, partners, providers, participants and cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear briefings, presentations, program materials and executive-level papers.
  • Strong strategic problem-solving and analytical skills, including the ability to synthesise evidence, feedback and practice insights into actionable recommendations.
  • Ability to work in a matrix environment, manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality work within agreed timeframes.
  • Sound cultural awareness and the ability to engage respectfully with communities, partners and people with lived experience.
  • A relevant undergraduate qualification or commensurate experience.

Experience in philanthropy, the for-purpose sector, social impact, public policy, community development, leadership development, adult learning or organisational development will be highly regarded. Experience with fellowship, leadership, alumni, network-building, capability-building or systems-change initiatives would also be valuable.
