The key purpose of the Head of Event Delivery role is spearheading the successful execution of parkrun events across all areas of operations. The position is responsible for leading a dynamic team that operates across all levels of event operation, volunteer management, administrative systems, procedures, and administrative projects while fostering a culture of operational excellence.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Support and collaborate with event teams to ensure that parkrun events in the region are delivered seamlessly, whilst ensuring that all events meet the organisation's guidelines.
  • Continuously evaluate operational processes and systems, identifying areas for improvement and, in collaboration with the global team, implement streamlined procedures to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Contribute toward a sense of community and teamwork among ambassadors, encouraging collaboration and ensuring volunteers are motivated and engaged.
  • Oversee the distribution of event kits and materials to both new and existing parkrun events, ensuring that all necessary equipment is readily available and in good condition.
  • Oversee and assist with the smooth operation of all aspects of incident processing and support, taking direct responsibility for the most serious incidents.
  • Oversee operational governance and support the Event Delivery & Support Manager in actioning any issues of event team non-compliance.
  • Oversee and manage complaints and disputes appropriately.
  • Actively contribute insights and expertise to global initiatives and projects, sharing best practices and insights and fostering a global community of knowledge exchange and learning.

Essential experience requirements:

  • Proven track record of leadership, ideally in a similar role or within the event management industry.
  • Demonstrated success in managing complex organisations, teams, projects, and conflict resolution.
  • Experience in event management, logistics, or operations and familiarity with the intricacies of organising and executing events, particularly in a volunteer-driven context.
  • Proficiency in project management methodologies and tools to oversee event delivery and ensure projects stay on track and within scope.
  • A thorough understanding of the operational processes of parkrun, including some insight and experience of parkrun as an organisation.
  • Volunteering and or managing volunteers.

DESIRABLE experience requirements:

  • Experience in business development, and organisational growth including a strong understanding of how to align event delivery strategies with broader organisational objectives and drive sustainable growth.
  • Experience in handling crisis situations or unforeseen challenges during events and effectively implementing contingency plans to ensure event success and participant safety.
