Park Orchards Community House & Learning Centre Incorporated isseeking an Executive Manager to join our team.

About the role

The Executive Manager is responsible to the Board of Management for the operation, financial management, and development of the Organisation and for ensuring that the Organisation operates in accordance with the Organisation’s Constitution, Board’s policy decisions and the funding body’s service agreements.

This role will provide leadership, development, and management support across a broad range of community programs including childcare, our Registered Training Organisation, Learn Local and community engagement.

The Executive Manager will be a highly experienced and motivated senior manager with a passion for community development, efficiency, effectiveness, and accountability.

Key Selection Criteria

Applications must include written responses to the following: 

  • Experience in leading a professional team in the field of community development and program provision.
  • Demonstrated collaboration and problem-solving skills – including ability to contribute to the strategic decision making of the organisation.
  • Demonstrated people management and development skills including role design, performance development, mentoring, coaching and management, conflict resolution and communication.
  • Well-developed project management, program/service development, planning and evaluation skills and experience.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the values of POCH&LCI.

Essential

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications such as community development, early childhood education and care or community sector management and/or over 5 years’ experience in the community sector, preferably in a Neighbourhood House.
  • High level administrative, organisational and negotiation skills. 
  • Proven organisational ability with experience of managing a community organisation.
  • The capacity for collaborative leadership and management of staff and volunteers. 
  • Command of community development principles and practice.
  • The ability to represent, and advocate for the organisation and the community in a highly professional manner. 
  • An understanding of community education principles and current trends.  
  • Capacity to work effectively with and resource a volunteer-based Board of Management.
  • The ability to identify community needs and to plan, develop, monitor, and evaluate high quality programs to meet those needs.
  • Highly developed written and oral communication and computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft software 

Desirable

  • The ability to relate well to people from a variety of backgrounds including those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, people with a disability, those on low income or unemployed, and elderly people.
