Providing All Living Supports (PALS) Inc

ABOUT PALS

PALS is an NDIS-registered not-for-profit organisation supporting people living with disability across the Moira Shire in regional Victoria. We deliver Supported Independent Living, Community Access and Support Coordination services, and operate three Social Enterprises.

PALS is governed by a skills-based Board of six to eight members, supported by an experienced CEO. The Board meets monthly via MS Teams, with one face-to-face strategic planning day held annually in Yarrawonga.

Our vision: a fully inclusive community where all people achieve their potential.

ABOUT THE ROLE

PALS is seeking an experienced finance professional to join its Board as Chair of the Audit and Finance Committee. This is a voluntary, non-executive governance role.

The Committee Chair works alongside the Board and Executive to provide oversight and assurance across financial strategy, budget integrity, financial reporting, audit function and internal controls. The role requires sound judgement, clear communication and a genuine commitment to the mission of the organisation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the Audit and Finance Committee in providing independent oversight and assurance to the Board
  • Review and provide recommendations on operational budgets, financial statements and underlying assumptions
  • Ensure the integrity and effectiveness of the audit function and internal control systems
  • Communicate financial matters clearly and accessibly to a non-finance board audience

CANDIDATE PROFILE

The ideal candidate will bring:

  • A background in financial management, accounting or audit — formal qualifications (CPA, CA or equivalent) well regarded
  • Previous experience in a board, committee or senior governance role (valued but not essential)
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Alignment with PALS values: Belonging, Integrity, Reliability and Respect
  • Commitment to disability inclusion and the rights of people with disability

WHAT YOU WILL GET

This is a two-way relationship. In joining the PALS Board, you will:

  • Be part of a supportive, engaged and collegial Board that genuinely values what each member brings
  • Build and deepen your governance experience at board level — valuable professional development whether you are stepping into your first directorship or adding to an established portfolio
  • Access ongoing learning and development opportunities relevant to board practice, including sector insights and governance training
  • Contribute to work that makes a real and tangible difference in the lives of people living with disability in regional Victoria — and feel genuinely good about it

Applications are warmly welcomed from people with lived experience of disability, carers, family members and candidates from diverse backgrounds. Connection to regional Victoria or knowledge of the NDIS sector is an advantage.

THE COMMITMENT

This is a volunteer, non-executive position. The Board meets monthly via MS Teams, with occasional subcommittee meetings and one face-to-face strategic planning day in Yarrawonga, Victoria each year. Time commitment is approximately 4–6 hours per month. The role is fully remote and open to applicants anywhere in Australia.
