Finance Volunteers - Timor Leste and PNG

Palms International Volunteering
  • Long Term Volunteer Finance Roles available

For 65 years, Palms International Volunteering has supported skilled Australians to live and work alongside communities in the Asia-Pacific. Our volunteers don’t ‘fix’ problem - they build relationships, strengthen local capacity, and walk with communities striving for dignity and opportunity.

We currently have several opportunities available for people with a background in finance/accounting, management or fundraising, in Timor Leste and PNG.

These are ‘solidarity placements’. Accommodation and a small stipend is provided, as well as preparation and ongoing support. The focus is on living as a true neighbour to learn, and to establish an effective mentoring role. This is the basis for lasting capacity building in the community. It is also a chance for you to step out of the rush and reconnect with what matters through a deep cultural immersion and genuine community relationships.

1. Fundraising and Donor Relations Mentor - Ahisaun Foundation (Dili, Timor-Leste)

Support a respected disability-rights organisation to strengthen its fundraising systems and donor relationships. You’ll mentor staff in donor reporting, proposal writing, and long-term sustainability - helping expand opportunities for people with disabilities.

2. Finance and Fundraising Mentor - Aileu Munipality Youth Centre (Aileu, Timor-Leste)

Strengthen financial systems and build staff confidence in budgeting, reporting, and resource mobilisation. Your support will help a rural youth centre become more transparent, organised and sustainable, ensuring it can continue supporting young people long into the future.

3. Auditor and Continuous Improvement Mentor - Diocese of Kundiawa (PNG)

Mentor administrative and finance staff across schools, health services and diocesan offices. You’ll help build practical financial processes, lead audits with local menttes, and strengthen governance across multiple community institutions.

4. Finance and Accountant Mentor - Diocese of Kundiawa (PNG)

Strengthen financial systems and mentor local staff, and support the development of a published finance manual. You’ll work alongside local colleagues to develop a practical, sustainable financail system and support stronger governance and more effective service delivery across diocesan institutions.
