Restoring Families Practitioner - Yarraville

OzChild is seeking a passionate and experienced Restoring Families Practitioner to join our team on a part-time basis (4 days per week).

In this role, you will deliver intensive, evidence-informed support to children, young people, and families experiencing complex needs. You will work collaboratively with families, Child Protection, and community partners to strengthen safety, improve family functioning, and support sustainable change.

Your practice will be grounded in strengths-based, relational, trauma-informed, and culturally safe approaches, ensuring families are supported in a respectful and empowering way.

Key Responsibilities

You will:

  • Deliver intensive, child-focused and family-centred casework in line with legislative and program requirements
  • Work directly with children and young people in meaningful, age-appropriate, culturally safe ways
  • Complete comprehensive assessments, planning, intervention, and review processes with families and stakeholders
  • Respond to referrals within required timeframes, including urgent and high-risk situations
  • Apply evidence-informed approaches including Safe & Together, MARAM, Motivational Interviewing, and relational practice
  • Maintain accurate and timely case records within required timeframes
  • Use flexible funding to support family-identified goals and reduce barriers to engagement
  • Participate in care team meetings, supervision, and reflective practice
  • Collaborate with Child Protection and community services for coordinated responses
  • Work flexibly between 8:00am–8:00pm across your 4 working days to meet family needs
  • Support culturally safe practice, including partnerships with Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations

About You

You are a skilled practitioner who thrives in complex environments and is committed to improving outcomes for children and families.

You will bring:

  • Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Community Services or related discipline
  • Experience working with vulnerable children, young people, and families
  • Strong understanding of child safety, risk assessment, and case practice
  • Ability to engage families using strengths-based and culturally responsive approaches
  • Excellent communication, engagement, and relationship-building skills
  • Experience working collaboratively with Child Protection and community services
  • Strong organisation and time management skills
  • Flexibility to meet the needs of families and service delivery

Requirements

  • Working with Children Check
  • National Police Check (and International if required)
  • Current Driver’s Licence
  • Completion of mandatory training upon commencement
