We are seeking a passionate and experienced Restoring Families Practitioner to join our team on a part-time basis (0.9 FTE).

In this rewarding role, you will provide intensive support to children, young people and families experiencing complex needs. Working collaboratively with families, Child Protection and community partners, you will help improve child safety, strengthen family functioning and support sustainable change.

Your practice will be grounded in strengths-based, trauma-informed, relational and culturally safe approaches that empower families to achieve their goals. 

Key Responsibilities

As a Restoring Families Practitioner, you will:

  • Deliver intensive, child-focused and family-centred casework in accordance with legislative and program requirements.
  • Build meaningful relationships with children, young people and families using age-appropriate and culturally responsive approaches.
  • Complete comprehensive assessments, case planning, interventions and reviews in partnership with families and key stakeholders.
  • Respond to referrals within required timeframes, including urgent and high-risk situations.
  • Apply evidence-informed approaches including Safe & Together™, MARAM, Motivational Interviewing and relational practice.
  • Maintain accurate, high-quality case notes and documentation within required timeframes.
  • Utilise flexible funding to reduce barriers and support family-identified goals.
  • Participate in care team meetings, reflective supervision and ongoing professional development.
  • Work collaboratively with Child Protection and community service partners to deliver coordinated responses.
  • Work flexibly between 8:00am and 8:00pm across your four working days to meet the needs of families.
  • Promote culturally safe practice, including working in partnership with Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations.

About You

You are an experienced practitioner who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about improving outcomes for vulnerable children and families.

You will bring:

  • Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Community Services or a related discipline.
  • Experience working with vulnerable children, young people and families.
  • Strong understanding of child safety, risk assessment and family case practice.
  • Ability to engage families using strengths-based, trauma-informed and culturally responsive approaches.
  • Excellent communication, engagement and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience working collaboratively with Child Protection and community service providers.
  • Strong organisational, time management and written communication skills.
  • Flexibility and resilience to respond to the changing needs of children and families.

Essential Requirements

  • Current Working with Children Check.
  • National Police Check (and International Police Check where applicable).
  • Current Driver's Licence and access to reliable transport.
  • Completion of mandatory training upon commencement.
