The Opportunity

Orygen is seeking applications for a UI Designer for Orygen Digital’s flagship youth mental health platform, MOST (Moderated Online Social Therapy). As the digital division of Orygen, we have a mission to improve youth mental health care using engaging, ethical, and evidence-based technology. Orygen Digital is expanding rapidly, and the UI Designer role offers a unique opportunity to join a growing product team committed to ethical and purposeful tech.

The role and your impact

Part-time (0.8-0.9 FTE) or full-time fixed term position available for 12 months, with potential for further employment. 

As the UI designer, you will take concepts through to development. You will work closely with the product lead, UX designers and development team to ensure design integrity; develop high fidelity mockups, and collaborate to create exciting design solutions. You will be our advocate for best practice visual design, and will work to establish and maintain a style guide that enables a consistent and intuitive user experience.

MOST is a social network and e-learning platform for young people struggling with their mental health, uniquely designed to integrate with face-to-face clinical care. It offers young people online access to evidence-based therapy and clinical support, that within a supportive social network of other young people, is shifting the treatment experience from one of isolation, to one of shared mission. We have an ambitious goal to make our MOST platform available to every youth mental health service in Australia by 2023. 

The successful candidate will require an ability to transform UX thinking into beautiful and functional design. They will be skilled in crafting responsive design systems following industry standards and best practices, and understand how UI design affects the development process

This is a unique opportunity to help transform the youth mental health service system through the development of online digital services that is unique, innovative, evidence-based and engaging.

About you

Essential to this role is that you will hold tertiary qualifications in design (e.g., graphic design) or equivalent practical experience. You will be able to demonstrate experience in UI design and crafting responsive design systems, with a portfolio or sample of completed design projects to be provided with your application. In addition, you will need:

  • Experience in creating and maintaining UI style guides.
  • Highly developed design skills using tools such as Sketch, Figma, InVision, Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator or similar.
  • Understanding of standards and best practices for web, iOS and Android (e.g., Google Material Design, Fluent Design System, Human Interface Guidelines)
  • Understanding of core front-end languages, and how your design affects development processes.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with an ability to work collaboratively with developers to ensure design integrity.

Salary and Benefits

Depending on skills and experience, a salary of $70,000 - $85,000 per annum pro rata is offered plus superannuation and access to generous NFP salary packaging.
