About your new team

Forming part of the Orygen Specialist Program (OSP), a program of The Royal Melbourne Hospital, the Custodial Forensic Youth Mental Health Service (FYMHS) team provides specialist youth mental health care in custodial settings (Parkville and Cherry Creek sites) to young people and their families/carers.

Orygen and Youth Justice staff will work collaboratively to support young people voluntarily admitted to the new Mental Health Unit (MHU) at Cherry Creek Youth Justice Custodial Precinct. This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of something that hasn’t been done before!

Your new role

  • Deliver high-quality evidence-based nursing care to young people across 24 hours, 7 days a week roster
  • Provide specialist mental health nursing interventions, and effectively manage critical incidents and emergency situations
  • Collaborate with a specialist multidisciplinary team, focusing on patient-centred, goal- and recovery-oriented care

About you

  • Relevant registration and qualifications (see position description for details)
  • Minimum 12 months clinical experience in mental health, preferably in a youth mental health and/or forensic setting
  • Ability to deliver personalised psycho-social care beyond the traditional medical model to facilitate recovery of young people
