Community Organiser - Identified Position - Flexible Location

Original Power

Original Power is a community-focused, Aboriginal led organisation that builds the collective power of our people and backs our leadership, skills and capacity to genuinely achieve self-determination in our community and on country.

Original Power provides strategic advice and campaign support, facilitates capacity building and connects communities. The demands of climate justice require us to not only confront the climate crisis, but in doing so, build our capacity to ensure we are people who can confront all forms of injustice, determine our own futures and help bring greater control and dignity to our communities.

We are seeking an experienced Community Organiser to join the team, and support our work in Defence of Country, partnering with communities in the Northern Territory to support their efforts to self-determine what happens in their communities and on country.

This includes extensive travel to key communities to proactively support the Traditional Owners and members of the Nurrdalinji Aboriginal Corporation ensuring crucial campaign information is communicated, developing relationships with community members, working with external partners to roll out the campaign strategy and assisting fundraising and lobbying efforts.

  • Strengthen connections between our people using organising and campaigning as a way of making change, and sharing the tools and resources needed
