The Ipswich Head to Health (HTH) Centre, funded by Darling Downs and West Morton PHN, offers inclusive, low-stigma access points for mental health services, providing assessment, triage, warm referrals, and immediate support. It caters to individuals at various levels of need, including those in crisis, fostering an innovative, agile, and flexible approach to service delivery.

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Brief Interventions Therapist to join our team at Head to Health Ipswich in a full-time capacity. In this role, you will deliver competent, evidence-based mental health interventions tailored to meet the psychosocial needs and goals of our consumers. Utilising recovery, strength-based, trauma-informed, and motivational interviewing frameworks, you will play a crucial role in supporting individuals on their mental health journey.

On a day to day basis you will:

  • Deliver a range of evidence-based therapies, including psychoeducation, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Solution focused Therapy (SFT).
  • Perform thorough risk assessments and champion the mental health needs of clients.
  • Tailor care to each client, integrating family support where relevant.
  • Guide and support student placements while actively participating in team dynamics.
  • Ensure meticulous record-keeping, contribute to quality improvement endeavours.

About you

Are you someone who can deliver brief therapeutic interventions, conduct comprehensive risk assessments, navigate cross-cultural settings effectively, and excel in stakeholder engagement and partnership? Do you possess strong organisational skills, excellent communication abilities, and thrive in diverse team environments? If so, you might be the ideal candidate we're looking for.

We’re also looking for:

  • Tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate IV) in health, counselling, behavioural/social sciences, community services, or a related discipline and/or extensive experience in the mental health sector that provides a sound understanding and knowledge of assessing and working with people at risk.
  • Knowledge and ability to develop and deliver group-based skills training activities to assist clients’ psychosocial functioning (e.g. life skills, anger management, problem solving, conflict resolution, etc.).
  • Knowledge of the mental health system, government policies, legislation, and professional standards.
  • A commitment to foster and build inclusive cultures that promote human rights and diversity.

  • Current Driver Licence.
  • Current Working with Children Check (Blue Card) or ability to hold one.
  • Undergo a current and satisfactory Police Check.
