WHO WE ARE

Suncoast Integrated Therapies (SIT) is an allied health service located on the Sunshine Coast. SIT is a part of 121 Care Inc. supporting people with disability, and people with mental illness. At SIT, we provide a range of allied health and occupational therapy services to people with disability in South East Queensland regions.

The Role

Reporting to the CEO, the Behaviour Support Practitioner is responsible to ensuring the provision of behavioural support services to people with a disability. The Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Delivering services to participants of the NDIS, in accordance with the goals outlined in their NDIS plans, providing a service that aligns with the NDIS practice standards and quality indicators provided by the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission.
  • Undertake assessments of clients who have or are at risk of having restrictive practices imposed on them, and developing alternative, least restrictive interventions, that aim to reduce and eliminate restrictive practices where possible.
  • Working collaboratively with clients, families and carers to improve support provided to people exhibiting behaviours of concern in a way that is respectful of peoples’ human rights, puts the client at the centre of planning, and aims to improve quality of life for people with disabilities.
  • Providing professional advice and facilitating training around evidence based positive behaviour support to clients, staff, and stakeholders as required.
  • Provide evidence based clinical knowledge, expertise and support to clients and their stakeholders.
  • Consult and liaise with clients, medical professionals, community staff, carers/family members, relevant agencies and government departments.

As the successful Behaviour Support Practitioner, you will have:

  • Proven experience in supporting people with complex behaviour support needs (preferably 3 years plus)
  • Tertiary Qualification in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Disability or Social Sciences.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with people with disability, and behaviours, and their support staff/families.
  • Demonstrated experience in assessing and planning intervention for clients with exhibit a range of behaviours of concern especially high risk-behaviours
  • An ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team.

The successful candidate will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check.
