About this role:

This role will work under the general direction of the Assistant Finance Manager and be responsible for a wide range of month end duties, reconciling accounts, managing payroll, and preparing financial reports. This role will work to ensure timely, efficient and accurate maintenance of the accounting systems including general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable and payroll and related financial record systems across OHV.

Key areas of focus:

  • Assist with the processing of accounts payable in accordance with the relevant vendor terms and GST compliance.
  • Assist with the management and operation of the payroll system and assist with the production of the fortnightly/monthly/ad hoc payrolls.
  • Assist with Payroll, AP, AR reconciliation and all other bookkeeping duties as required.
  • Provide guidance to the finance and accounting team for their development.
  • Maintain a high standard of documentation which complies with accountability structures according to professional, legislative, service contractual obligations and organisational standards.

A week in this role:

If you were here last week, you would have:

  • Assisted the team regarding Accounts Payable with processing payments
  • Provided guidance to Payroll and assisted staff with finalising the pay run
  • Prepared bank and corporate credit card reconciliations
  • Created invoices and followed-up with overdue payments.
  • Attended monthly finance meeting

Who WE are looking for?

We are looking for an experienced Assistant Account to provide support to the Assistant Finance Manager, assisting in the execution of accounting, payroll and month end procedures including the input to and output from the corporate suite of accounting systems.

To be successful in this role, you will:

  • Hold a relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting to level of CA, CPA or IPA holder preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in accounting and payroll in a SME and/or Not-for-profit environment with sound financial and business acumen.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of employment legislations including NES and modern award coverage for payroll purposes.
  • Sound knowledge of accounting principles and GST compliance.
  • Demonstrate understanding of the importance and application of inclusive practice when working with people from diverse communities, such as cultures, genders, sexualities, bodies, abilities, spiritualities, ages and backgrounds
  • Demonstrate understanding of the importance and application of intersectionality when working with people from all cultures, genders, sexualities, bodies, abilities, spiritualities, ages and backgrounds
