Inclusion Projects Officer - Health - Northern Rivers

  • Location: Northern Rivers region with current work from home options.
  • Would you like to help CID establish a presence in the NSW Northern Rivers region?
  • 1 FTE position. 0.8 FTE and/or flexible hours will be considered.

CID is a peak body representing the rights and interests of people with intellectual disability in NSW.

CID undertakes advocacy, information provision and projects that advance the rights of people with intellectual disability.


CID is funded to provide health inclusion projects aiming to increase the capacity of health professionals to effectively communicate with and understand the needs of people with intellectual disability. The projects will improve health outcomes for people with intellectual disability through:

  • Improved values and attitudes of health professionals
  • Increased knowledge, skills and confidence of health professionals when working with people with intellectual disability
  • Improved communication, diagnosis and treatment of people with intellectual disability
  • Increased capacity of people with intellectual disability to understand and share their health needs with health professionals.

The projects involve the development and delivery of training and the creation of health literacy resources. All elements of the projects will be co-designed with people with intellectual disability and in consultation with disability and health professionals.

In line with the Position Description the Inclusion Project Officer will:

  • Facilitate workshops and sessions for various participant groups including people with intellectual disability
  • Develop resources, content and activities related to the project
  • Develop strong, effective connections with a wide variety of stakeholders
  • Undertake community engagement activities across a range of events, locations and networks.
  • Support the participation of people with intellectual disability in all aspects of the project and more broadly in CID’s work.


  • Demonstrated commitment to the human rights of people with disability and the principles of participation and inclusion.
  • Demonstrated experience in facilitation and/or training environments, with people with disability.
  • Well-developed interpersonal, communication, facilitation and negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the importance of supporting people to speak for themselves
  • Demonstrated experience in productive working relationships with colleagues to achieve required outcomes.
  • Willingness and ability to travel.
  • Excellent computer literacy including in Microsoft Office.
