About the program

The Child Health and Development (CHAD) team supports children and families to achieve meaningful participation in everyday life through collaborative, family centred care. The multidisciplinary team includes Paediatric Occupational Therapists, Speech Pathologists and Dietitians, delivering services through Community Health, NDIS and other community initiatives.

About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate Early Career Paediatric Occupational Therapist to join our Child Health and Development team in a dedicated early career pathway role. This fixed term opportunity has been designed to support transition into the profession through supervision, mentoring and exposure across paediatric community health and NDIS settings.

Working with children aged 0 to 12 years and their families, you will provide assessment and intervention services across clinic and outreach settings including childcare, kindergarten and schools. You will work closely with experienced clinicians and a multidisciplinary team to build your paediatric practice skills and confidence.

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing assessment and intervention for children aged 0 to 12 years experiencing developmental concerns
• Supporting families through goal setting and strengths based, family centred approaches
• Managing a caseload of Community Health and NDIS clients with supervision and support from senior Occupational Therapists
• Delivering individual and group interventions
• Collaborating with caregivers, educators, health professionals and community services
• Maintaining clinical documentation and program records
• Providing services across clinic and outreach settings including schools and early childhood environments

About you

You are an early career Occupational Therapist who is passionate about paediatrics and excited to grow your clinical practice within a supportive community health environment.

You will bring:

• Recognised Occupational Therapy qualification (Bachelor, Masters or Doctorate)
• Current AHPRA registration
• Full Victorian Driver’s Licence
• Experience supporting children aged 0 to 12 years, including student placements
• Knowledge of child development and developmental delay or disability
• Commitment to evidence based, strengths based and family centred practice
• Strong communication and relationship building skills
• Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams and external services
• Commitment to ongoing learning and professional development
• Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse communities is desirable
