Remote / Work from Home
We’re looking for an enthusiastic social media and digital coordinator to engage with members and supporters of the National Parks Association of NSW (NPA) about conservation advocacy, parks, nature and wildlife.
NPA was formed in 1957 and sixty-three years later we have 15 branches, 4,000 members and over 20,000 supporters. Our mission is to protect nature through community action. NPA’s strengths include state-wide reach, deep local knowledge and evidence-based approach to conservation advocacy.
This newly created part time role will generate content for our social media channels, posting and commenting upon media articles, NPA media releases and other conservation issues. The role will also play a key role in informing members about upcoming activities, including the bushwalking program and citizen science events, through social media, emails and regular member newsletters.
The Social Media and Digital Coordinator must have the capacity to prepare accurate and insightful commentary on contentious conservation issues consistent with NPA’s non-politically partisan stance.
The Social Media and Digital Coordinator will report to the NPA Executive Officer and work closely with the Communications and Publications Manager and our small team of conservation advocacy, member services and environmental specialists. They will have proven ability to exercise independent judgement.
The Social Media and Digital Coordinator will carry out a range of tasks that require a high level of planning with excellent attention to detail. The position is expected to exhibit initiative and flexibility. On a day-to-day basis, the Social Media and Digital Coordinator will work autonomously and manage priorities in consultation with the Executive Officer and Communications and Publications Manager.
The applicant must possess highly developed interpersonal and communications skills. They will have the demonstrated ability to build strong relationships across a dispersed state-wide organisation. They are a person who quickly builds rapport with a wide range of people, communicates clearly and has the proven capacity to build a passion amongst members and supporters for NPA’s work and future.
