Overview

The Nossal Institute for Global health aims to improve the health of all people globally by deepening our collective understanding of how multiple systems operate and interact to shape health through applied research, learning and partnership.

Hosted by the Australian Global Alliance Australia (the national peak body for global health institutions and organisations) under the auspices of Nossal Institute Limited, the Policy and Advocacy Lead will work closely with current Pacific Friend Advisory Board and Alliance leadership to manage the Pacific Friends secretariat function and activities. The secretariat function is also supported by a part-time Project Officer.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a high performing self-starter to lead on policy and advocacy efforts at Pacific Friends of Global Health. Activities and objectives over this period will be guided by two key global health financing moments in 2024 and 2025: both Gavi the Vaccine Alliance, and The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria will be seeking renewed and strong pledges from the Australian Government via their respective replenishment processes.

This is a part-time (0.6 FTE), maternity leave cover appointment, for a fixed-term period of 14 months, with the possibility of extension for the right candidate.

About You

The successful candidate will have the chance to make the most of their skills and experience in advocacy, government relations, policy analysis, communications, project management and stakeholder management to raise political and public awareness of key global health issues facing the Indo-Pacific Region, and work to improve regional health outcomes through Australian Government investment to Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria and other health programs.
