Are you an experienced commissioning and projects professional who is passionate about improving mental health, suicide prevention and alcohol and other drug services?

Join NWMPHN as Lead, Commissioning and Projects and play a key role in designing, improving and strengthening commissioned services that respond to community needs.

Working with internal teams, service providers, community members and people with lived experience, you will lead projects that support better access, integration and outcomes across primary care. The role sits within the Service Development and Reform (SDR) Business Unit and works closely with internal teams and stakeholders to support coordinated project delivery, effective service design and the successful implementation of commissioning activities.

A typical week may include:

• Leading and coordinating service design and commissioning projects, with a focus on mental health, suicide prevention and alcohol and other drug services.
• Working closely with internal teams and stakeholders to support project planning, implementation, reporting and change management activities.
• Engaging with service providers, community members, people with lived experience and sector stakeholders to inform service improvements.
• Monitoring project milestones, risks, budgets and deliverables to ensure activities are delivered on time and in line with agreed requirements.
• Contributing to commissioning, contract management and evaluation activities, including reviewing data and translating insights into practical improvements.
• Supporting team members through clear work planning, coaching and collaborative problem-solving to achieve shared outcomes.

You will be:

• Prior experience in project, commissioning or service design with a strong interest in improving mental health, suicide prevention and AOD services.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills and build trusted relationships with internal teams, providers, community members and people with lived experience.
• Ability to manage complex projects, balancing competing priorities and translating ideas into practical, evidence-informed solutions with confidence.
• Strong communication skills to translate business needs with clarity, work collaboratively and are comfortable operating in a changing environment.
