Northern Community Church of Christ is seeking a hands-on, reliable person to join our team as a Property Maintenance & Transport Supervisor. This is a unique opportunity to combine practical work with meaningful ministry, supporting programs that serve vulnerable people across Melbourne’s north.

About the Role

This diverse role blends property maintenance, transport, and volunteer leadership, supporting the practical operations that underpin our ministry activities.

You will:

  • Maintain and improve church properties (Preston & Reservoir sites)
  • Coordinate and carry out repairs, gardening, and general upkeep
  • Safely transport goods, donations, and equipment
  • Support ministry programs through logistics and deliveries
  • Oversee volunteers in maintenance-related activities
  • Ensure strong Work Health & Safety standards
  • Manage equipment, inspections, and servicing schedules

You’ll play a vital behind-the-scenes role enabling frontline community services to flourish.

Who We’re Looking For

We’re seeking someone who:

  • Has a heart for serving others
  • Enjoys practical, hands-on work and problem-solving
  • Can work both independently and with teams of volunteers
  • Has strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
  • Is organised, proactive, and calm under pressure

Essential:

  • Current Australian driver’s licence and strong driving record
  • At least 5 years of driving experience (including towing a trailer)
  • Good level of physical fitness
  • Experience in maintenance, handyman work, or similar
  • Willingness to obtain (or hold):
    • Working With Children Check
    • Police Check
    • Test & Tag qualification (or ability to gain)
