The Organisation

Cleaning Accountability Framework (CAF) is a world-first, game-changing organisation that exists to end the exploitation of vulnerable workers and to promote human rights and responsible business practices in the property services industry.

CAF works with the union, government, academia, and the property services industry to protect and advance the rights of cleaners in Australia, and to address modern slavery risk in supply chains. Specifically, CAF has developed and promotes an industry-leading Standard that is used to assess property assets through the CAF Certification Scheme.

The CAF Certification Scheme provides a credible framework to measure social compliance within the cleaning industry. Investors, property owners, building managers, cleaning contractors and tenants benefit from improved procurement processes and reduced risks, while cleaners are assured of fair pay and decent working conditions.

The Role

As the labour rights manager you will oversee the CAF Certification Scheme and implementation of the certification strategy, alongside managing a small team of three with the team expected to grow rapidly within 6 months. You will also play a leadership support role to the CEO.

You will build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and liaise with marketing and communications to promote certification activities

You will also provide general oversight of activities, assist with day-to-day operations, positively contribute to workplace culture and ensure a smoothly functioning and efficient team.

Skills Required

You will have relevant experience in industrial relations, human and /or labour rights practice and a passion and commitment for upholding workers’ rights. Experience of working within or a strong understanding of unions and advocacy would also be beneficial, or a background within property and social sustainability.

The role requires an experienced and motivating team leader who has a high level of project management and stakeholder engagement skills, with the proven ability to provide high-quality project delivery within resource and time constraints is important.

You have highly developed interpersonal skills, including relationship management and the proven ability to communicate with stakeholders with competing agendas with the ability to handle sensitive issues, and work both independently and as part of a team

Additionally, you have:

  • Postgraduate tertiary qualifications or undergrad qualifications
  • Strong analytical skills and/or experience with data analysis/data science
