The Position:

Ngala, on behalf of the Swan Alliance, seeks a part time Community Development Officer to join our team at Ellenbrook.

The Swan Alliance is a partnership between Ngala, Anglicare WA and Mission Australia who work together as a single entity to deliver the Swan Communities for Children initiative on behalf of the Australian Department of Social Services.

The role supports community members and organisations to collaborate, develop and implement integrated services and activities to achieve Community Strategic Plan outcomes for families with children less than twelve years of age. It requires an ability to think and plan strategically as well as an ability to engage directly with local agencies, community representatives, parents and children.

A Bachelor Degree in Community Development, Social Work, Social Sciences or equivalent; and/or 3-5 years’ experience in community development or related role is required.

In this role you will be required to:

  • Be proactive, motivated and innovative
  • Engage with a diverse range of community members, including children
  • Be culturally sensitive and have had experience working with Aboriginal people
  • Facilitate community development opportunities
  • Work independently
  • Think and plan strategically
  • Have the capacity to find solutions using creativity and initiative
  • Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and written and report writing skills

Drivers Licence and roadworthy car is essential.

Willingness to travel throughout the City of Swan and wider metropolitan area.
