Casual role until 20 November 2020, approximately 6-8 hours per week

• Are you experienced in outreach with people who are homeless?
• Are you confident about coaching and supporting volunteers?
• Are you able to work flexible evening hours and looking for some additional hours of work?

We are looking for someone to take on a casual role of 6-8 hours per week in our community based homeless outreach project in the Sydney CBD.  This project involves leading small groups of volunteers on outreach to people sleeping rough.  You will be role modelling and guiding volunteers to develop their knowledge, confidence and skills to engage with people experiencing homelessness.

We are looking for someone who has:

• A commitment to the values of Newtown Neighbourhood Centre
• Experience in assertive outreach
• Extensive knowledge of the homelessness system in Sydney including services in the CBD
• Leadership skills, particularly with the ability to lead small teams of volunteers on outreach
• Capacity to stay calm under pressure and the ability to deescalate a crisis situation
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 
• Able to commit to 2 shifts a week (most likely 5-8pm on Tuesday and Thursday evenings until 20th November 2020)
