About the Role

NDS has received funding from the Queensland Government to deliver several projects aimed at building the capacity and capability of the Queensland disability sector. 

NDS has been awarded the projects in recognition of it close connection to the disability services sector in Queensland and its demonstrated expertise in building sector knowledge and capability

A Senior Sector Support & Development Officer leads and delivers projects, in collaboration with other NDS staff, ensuring achievement of project milestones and outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

A Senior Sector Support & Development Officer plays a senior role in delivering NDS Queensland outcomes. Activities will include:

• Ensuring strong and valuable links between the disability sector, NDS and NDS projects in Queensland.
• Working with the disability sector, key government department and their agencies, and other NDS staff, to deliver NDS managed projects and achieve their milestones and timelines
• Providing information and support to NDS colleagues ensuring the Queensland division meets NDS policies, practices and expectation.
• Using project management skills and processes to effectively and efficiently deliver NDS outcomes in Queensland

Other Responsibilities (applicable for all NDS employees)

• Perform other duties and responsibilities as required by manager/supervisor from time to time
• Comply with NDS’s policies and procedures at all times, including (but not limited to) HR, Quality, Work Health & Safety (WHS), IT, Security, and Data Privacy
• Respond to reasonable contact from NDS outside standard work hours if required as part of role responsibilities. 
• Develop accessible versions of documents for internal and external distribution.  
• Demonstrate the NDS values of Build respectful relationships, Lead change, Deliver clarity & impact, Support and develop others and Embrace diversity.

Skills & Experience

1. An understanding of the human services sector
2. High level skills in effectively communicating complex information
3. Demonstrated strong organisational skills, initiative, and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
4. High level interpersonal and communication skills and the capability to interact and network with people in a variety of positions;
5. Experience in policy analysis and development;
6. Experience in service delivery, research and/or community development activities in the not-for-profit sector;
7. Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office Suite;
8. A tertiary qualification in a related discipline would be highly regarded;
9. Prior management experience in the disability services sector would be highly regarded.
10. Ability to undertake extensive regional travel independently.
