Collectively, our members operate several thousand services for Australians with all types of disability. NDS’s members range in size from small support groups to large multi-service organisations, and are located in every State and Territory across Australia.

Background:
The Communications Team is responsible for internal and external stakeholder communications and publications, campaigns and media for NDS. As a small, dynamic team we are focused on delivering creative and engaging content to support NDS and the broader disability community.
Position Overview:
The primary objectives of the Digital Content and Social Media Advisor are to advise NDS staff across Australia on appropriate content, upload and update NDS websites, and build the NDS brand by assisting with the coordination of a strategic social media program.
The Digital Content and Social Media Advisor is also responsible for developing new site areas through the Content Management System and overseeing other web development work via an agency.
Key responsibilities:
- Create and post social media content across NDS’s social channels
- Upload news, policy, events and resources on the NDS website
- Create and send EDMs through the NDS CRM
- Assist with advice and coordinate projects as required
- Advise NDS staff nationally on social media and web content
- Liaison with external providers (i.e. web developers) on appropriate changes, projects and updates to the NDS website, other related websites, e.g. NDP, Ticket to work, Centre for Applied Disability Research, etc.
- Review and quality check content to ensure accuracy and consistency with NDS brand and style guidelines
Key Attributes:
- Proficient skills and understanding in social media channels, writing styles and marketing techniques
- A ‘user first’ mindset, with proficient skills and understanding in HTML and CSS. The ability to code would be highly regarded
- Experience of CRM and CMS platforms essential
- Highly developed communication skills including writing and formatting content in online environments
- Analytical and reporting skills including competency in Google Analytics and social media tracking
- Knowledge of search engine optimisation and ability to tag content appropriately
- Ability to coordinate projects to ensure timely and accurate posting of social and digital content
- Experience of Adobe Creative and Microsoft Office suites
- Keen attention to detail
- Knowledge of accessible communications methods
- High initiative and demonstrated ability to problem solve and “get things done”
- Ability to work as an effective team member
- Tertiary qualification in communications, marketing or similar
