About the Role:

  • Full-time, 38 hours, 5 days per week  
  • Permanent  
  • Melbourne preferred but will consider other locations

The Communications Team is responsible for internal and external stakeholder communications and publications, campaigns and media for NDS. As a small, dynamic team we are focused on delivering creative and engaging content to support NDS and the broader disability community.

Working with the Senior Digital Content and Social Media Advisor, the Digital Communications Officer will write, edit and publish NDS digital content across social media, emails and websites.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Write, edit, and publish timely and engaging digital content.
  • Review and quality check content to ensure accuracy and consistency with NDS brand and style guidelines.
  • Coordinate production of NDS newsletters for states and territories and for sector interest areas.
  • Edit and submit email News Updates to NDS members drafted by NDS staff.
  • Create and send EDMs through the NDS CRM.
  • Write and upload content for NDS websites. Manage content for NDS events web pages.
  • Create and post social media content across NDS’s social media channels.
  • Create in-house video content for social media, web and EDMs.
  • Compile monthly data on NDS social media and website performance.
  • Contribute to Communications Team planning and strategy development.
  • Develop strong working relationships within own team, with other NDS teams, in particular the State and Territory Managers and the Member Services and Marketing Team.

Other Responsibilities (applicable for all NDS employees):

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required by manager/supervisor from time to time
  • Comply with NDS’s policies and procedures at all times, including (but not limited to) HR, Quality, Work Health & Safety (WHS), IT, Security, and Data Privacy
  • Demonstrate the NDS values of respect, teamwork & collaboration, leadership, innovation and accountability in all interactions

Skills & Experience:

  • Self-starter with proficient skills in areas including writing, editing and proofreading across various online and social media platforms is essential.
  • Analytical and reporting skills including competency in Google Analytics and social media tracking.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to write accurate and engaging copy for a variety of audiences and simplify corporate or jargon-heavy language.
  • Keen attention to detail, with the ability to prioritise workload to meet deadlines and maintain quality under pressure.
  • IT literate and competency across web publishing and content management systems, and CRM systems.
  • Experience with in-house video shooting and editing.
  • Experience with accessible communication methods would be highly regarded.
  • Proficiency with the MS Office Suite.
  • A tertiary qualification in communications, marketing or similar.
