Ngaanyatjarra Essential Services (ES) is a division within Ngaanyatjarra Council Group delivering a range of services to Aboriginal Communities throughout the Goldfields and Central Reserves Region. 

The Essential Services division is primarily concerned with the delivery of maintenance and construction services for mains power, water, and sewage services to these communities.

About this opportunity:

Currently, Essential Services has an exciting opportunity for a permanent full-time Electrician to join the team on a Fly in, Fly out (FIFO) roster from Perth or Kalgoorlie. 

Working under the direction of the Essential Services Assistant Manager, the role of the Electrician is to assist with planned and preventative maintenance of assets and breakdown repairs as well as the service of water and wastewater systems as part of a planned maintenance team. 

The successful candidate will be required to:

  • Finding faults, performing repairs and electric installation to be performed as required
  • Perform any scheduled or unscheduled preventative maintenance to ES facilities including but not limited to water tanks, water treatment units, potable water production bore units and diesel power stations
  • Pay close attention to preventative maintenance to prolong the life and efficiency of assets 
  • Follow standard procedures when completing the scheduled and unscheduled maintenance 
  • Work collaboratively with other trades, managers, and supervisors 
  • Undertake other duties relevant to the position as required
  • Ensure communications are appropriate to Ngaanyatjarra communities, and Ngaanyatjarra Council and its entities with which the role operates
  • Quickly respond to enquiries and action where relevant and/or necessary
  • Participate in discussions designed to provide opportunity to improve service delivery

The successful candidate will possess:

  • Current WA Electrician’s Licence
  • Current WA C class drivers’ licence or higher
  • Proficient in Microsoft office applications 
  • Willingness and ability to reside in a ‘dry’ remote Aboriginal community
  • Construction White Card, Confined Gas Testing, EWP and Work Safely at Heights tickets are desirable however not essential
