The National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (NACCHO) is the national peak body representing 148 Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations (ACCHOs). ACCHOs deliver comprehensive primary health care to more than half of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples nationally.

About the Role

The Project Officer, Cancer supports delivery of the NACCHO Cancer Program and implementation of national cancer initiatives aligned with the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cancer Plan. The role provides operational and project support across a range of Cancer Program activities, including workforce initiatives, screening, stakeholder engagement, reporting coordination, communications, implementation support, and administrative processes. Working in a dynamic environment, it requires strong organisational skills, attention to detail, effective communication, and the ability to manage competing priorities while collaborating across multiple projects and stakeholders. The role contributes to culturally safe, community-led approaches that support improved cancer outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Responsibilities of this role but not limited to:

  • Assist with day-to-day administrative support including Outlook and SharePoint management and meeting scheduling.
  • Communicate and engage with a broad range of stakeholders and contribute to stakeholder meetings.
  • Support grant management processes, including preparing grant agreements and funding arrangements.
  • Engage with and develop effective working relationships with NACCHO Affiliates and
    Members

About You 

To succeed in this role, you will bring: 

  • Tertiary qualifications in public health, project management, health administration, Aboriginal health, business administration, or a related field are desirable.
  • Experience in project support, coordination, administration, or stakeholder engagement
  • Strong organisational skills with ability to manage priorities and deadlines
  • Effective written and verbal communication, including reporting and correspondence
  • Ability to work collaboratively and engage with diverse stakeholders
  • Experience working with ACCHOs or Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health programs is desirable
